1.    What are the famous shopping streets in Turin ?

The 4 most famous shopping streets in Turin are: Via Roma, Via Lagrange, Via Garibaldi and Via Po.

The squares that these streets connect are also filled with great shops, these squares are: Piazza Castello, Piazza San Carlo, Piazza Statuto and Piazza Vittorio Veneto

1.1 VIA ROMA

Via Roma is the most popular & glamourous shopping street in Turin.

It starts from Piazza Castello, it crosses both Piazza San Carlo & Piazza Carlo Felice and it ends at the Porta Nuova Train station.

It’s beautiful marble porticos and its wide pedestrian only lanes make it a real pleasure to walk through.

This is the most fashionable street in Turin and it is where you will find the most luxurious brands such as Gucci, Fratelli Rossetti, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Mont Blanc, Max Mara, Falconeri and so forth.

Other than that, you will find also some more accessible brands such as Nike, Zara, Stradivarious and H&M.

Its porticos make it particularly handy to shop through also during rainy days.

TOP TIP: don’t miss Galleria San Federico

Galleria San Federico

Starting from Piazza Castello, if you walk on the right hand side of Via Roma you’ll see a stunning indoor closed space called Galleria San Federico at the corner between Via Roma and Piazza San Carlo.

The pavement, columns and ceiling of the Galleria are covered with green and white marble, truly stunning.

Here you will find more shops such as De Wan. Here you can buy jewellery, purses and accessories/scarfs. You will see also the historical Lux cinema which is still open today.

1.2 VIA LAGRANGE

Via Lagrange is the second most glamorous street in Turin.

It runs parallel to Via Roma, this street also starts from Piazza Castello and ends in Piazza Carlo Felice. It passes through  the stunning Piazza Carignano and the well-known Museo Egizio.

TOP TIP: don’t miss the beautiful Palazzo Carignano

Technically speaking, the first half of this road (from Piazza Castello up to the start of Piazza San Carlo) is actually called Via Accademia delle Scienze. The second half of this street is called Via Lagrange. To avoid confusion, in this post I am referring to it purely as Via Lagrange.

This street is also 100% pedestrian only. Compared to Via Roma, the street is less wide but just as elegant. The key difference is that it has a less modern look and a much more ancient & charming feel.

You can see this from its pavement which is made out of ancient tiny stone cubes called “San Pietrini” rather than by marble. This type of pavement was invented by Pope Sixtus V back into the 1500s and as such, and as the name suggests, it is typical of the streets of Rome.

In terms of shopping, Via Lagrange offers manly luxury brands such as Brunello Cucinelli, Trussardi, Colmar, Moncler, The Bridge and Prada.

You’ll also find more commercial brands such as Lacoste, Robe di Kappa, Diesel and LIU Jo.

The street passes by the most famous and luxurious department store of Turin:  La Rinascente. This is a six floor store, similar to Galerie La Fayette in Paris.

1.3 VIA GARIBALDI

Via Garibaldi is a more accessible shopping street in Turin compared to Via Roma and Via Lagrange.

This is a long pedestrian only street which connects Piazza Castello with Piazza Statuto. This street is not covered by porticos making it less accessible during rainy days.

The key shops here are FootLocker, Sephora, Douglas, Accessorize and Flying Tiger.

Here you will find the Official Juventus Football Club Store.

On this street you will see plenty of coffe shops and ice-cream shops where you can sit down and have a much needed recovery break from the shopping Tour.

My favorite ice-cream shop is located on this street and it is called GROM .I fully recommend to try their Crema di Grom flavour!

At the end of Via Garibaldi, in Piazza Statuto, there is a very fashionable two-storeys high level clothing shop called Vestil S.R.L. Here you will find an incredible assortment of branded suits, taxidos and evening dresses. You’ll find Armani and Loro Piana suits along with many other brands.

At Vestil is where I bought the Armani suit for my wedding 😊. Here are some pictures, but I am not gonna tell you which one of the three suits above I bought in the end.

1.4 VIA PO

Via Po is the most accessible famous shopping street of the four that we’ve covered in this post.

The Via Po street is covered by porticos but it is the only one of the four which is not pedestrian only. In between the pedestrian porticos there are cars passing by.

Via Po connects Piazza Castello with the almighty Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the biggest square in Turin and the biggest square with porticoes in the whole of Europe.

This is the most “alernative” shopping street of the four that we highlighted.

In via Po stores you’ll find few big international chains like Calzedonia, Coccinelle, Flying Tiger. Here you will mainly come across small local stores like F.R.A.V. Shop, Acquaviva Torino and Rizzi Abbigliamento Torino who represent moderate size local boutiques.

On this street you’ll also find a really cool Vintage shop called Humana Vintage that offers many second hand products and also a huge selection of football nostalgic gear.

In Via Po you will see plenty of coffee shops like Bar Elena or Caffe Bar Universita’ where you can stop for coffee, ice-cream or for an aperitivo. The best ice-cream shop on this street is called FIORIO.

2.    Locals’ favourite clothes stores in Turin?

We’ve covered the best shopping streets, but given the huge amount of stores it can be overwhelming to find the best shopping store to actually stop to browse & shop.

This is why in this section, we’ll focus on the best shops where locals actually do their purchases. Two for the male population and two for the female audience.

2.1 Camiceria Vitali – 100% Made in Italy shirts

This is a shop for the male population and where I personally buy my shirts.

Camiceria Vitali is a small chain originally from Milan which opened in 1950, they have a total of 20 stores across Italy.

This shop is 100% Made in Italy and 100% focused only on shirts.

This explains why they are so good at it. The quality of their shirt is unparallelled and the price is quite affordable, around 60 euro each.

They have both dressy shirts for work but also some more playful ones for casual use.

Next to their main collection they also have good seasonal selections: a more linen focused one for the summer and heavier cotton fabric during the winter.

All of their products are100% made from natural fabrics, they are either 00% cotton or 100% linen.

The store I regularly go to is in Via Garibaldi 10, inside you’ll find two super nice female sales assistants which will give you great advices. Fully recommended!

2.2 La Dea Abbigliamento

La Dea Abbligliamento is a shop entirely dedicated to the female population.

This is another tiny local chain that is existing only in North of Italy. It was founded in 1979 and today it has a total of 8 shops in Italy.

“La Dea” in Italian means Goddess. The name says it all. If you buy you clothes here you will definitely feel like a goddess.

The clothes are very trendy & fashionable. True Italian style. My wife always likes to pass by this shop when browsing for clothes.

The price is on the higher side compared to bigger chains like Zara, but they are not outrages. You’ll probably spend 70-120 eur for a shirt.

The only negative thing here is that a lot of their assortment is not necessarily made out of natural fabric. Yet, I definitely recommend to swing by and have a look at it. You may find some really great items here.

The Dea shop in Turin is currently located in Via Antonio Gramsci 10. Here is their website in case you want to have a look : https://www.ladea.net/

2.3 Mauro Leone

Mauro Leone is a shop dedicated mainly to the female population & it is all about shoes.

This is hands down the best shopping place for shoes in Turin. Perhaps also one of the best in Italy.

Again here we’re talking about a small local chain 100% Made in Italy. It has only a total of 11 shops through Italy, two of which in Turin.

The quality of their shoes is incredible, made of proper natural materials. The price is also quite accessible and some times cheaper than what you find in more famous big chains.

So the price-quality ratio is simply unbeatable.

The stores are in Turin are located in Piazza Castello 64 & 75 (two windows opposite each other) and in Piazza XVIII Dicembre 7.

Their first & main store is the one in Piazza Castello, it is uber small but very characteristic. The shop is at the bottom floor, underneath the beautiful porticos of PiazzaCastello. Their warehouse is on the floor just above, so the sales assistant will literally go by a small set of spiral chairs on the first floor every time you ask him/her to look for a pair of shoes. I found this quite old school but super cool & authentic.

2.4 Telablu

This is a shop dedicated mainly to the male population.

Telablu is another great example of true Made in Italy and small size craftmanship. As far as I know, the one in Turin is their only shop as they operate mainly online.

Their motto is “affordable luxury”, as by cutting cutting out the intermediaries they are able to provide genuine and stylish clothing at a more affordable price.

I sometimes go here to shop, I like the quality of their products although I need to point out that it is slightly pricier than the big chains. I think last time I bought a pair of pants here for 90 euros.

Yet I recommend you to pass by this shop and have a look yourself.

The store is located in Turin in Via dell’Arcivescovado 8/c.

3.    What’s the biggest shopping mall in Turin?

The biggest shopping mall in Turin is Shopville le Gru.

I don’t recommend you to go here as it is really out of hand & nothing special. Rather go to the Torino Outlet Village which is explained in details later on in this post.

Le Gru is located in Grugliasco, which is 50 mins from the city center by public transportation & a 30 mins drive by car.

In terms of brands it has the usual big commercial companies that you also find in the city center: Bershka, Zara, H&M, Calzedonia and so forth.

In terms of price, I don’t see this as a place that offers good deals. It is the same price you will find in any other High Street.

4.    Top 3 shopping malls in Turin

4.1 LA RINASCENTE

La Rinascente Italy’s most popular Department Store.

Just like in Macy’s in the US, Galerie Lafayette In Paris or Harrods in London, La Rinascente is a premium multi-level department store.

The Rinascente is present in 8 different cities in Italy. In Turin, it is located in Via Giuseppe Luigi Lagrange 15 and has a total of six floors.

At the ground floor, you’ll find the areas dedicated to Fine Fragrances, Beauty creams as well as fancy bags & sunglasses.

At -1 floor, there is a great section dedicated to fine chocolates & wine. Higher up you will find the house decoration department where you can find elegant objects to decorate your home.

At the top floors you have a ton of space dedicated to clothes. Here you’ll find all the main brands: Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Chanel & so forth.

There is also a food hall where you can stop, have a bite & recharge.

If you want to have a better idea on what you’ll find, here is the link to La Rinascente website.

4.2 LINGOTTO 8 GALLERY

The Centro Commerciale 8 Gallery is a famous shopping mall near the Lingotto train station.

This is 20 mins out of the city center and it could be easily reached via Metro. It is only six subway stops away from Turin Porta Nuova Train station, it will cost you only 2 euros to get there.

If it is a rainy day this is definitely a good option.

On top of all the different stores & brands, I really would consider this places as it has it all: a cinema, a gaming center for kids, the famous Eataly restaurant & shop and a prestigious small art gallery.

4.3 EATALY

Eataly is  a very successful concept which started in 2007. Today, there are 45 Eataly stores across the world including New York, Tokyo and Dubai. The first store was opened here in Turin.

Eataly is both a premium grocery shop (sort of a more prestigious Marks & Spencers in the UK) and a massive but at the same time really great mid-priced gourmet restaurant.

The eatery is divided into different sections depending on what you’d like to eat: Pasta, Pizza, Meat or Fish. Their wine selection is incredible.

Here is a short 7 secs video of their Seafood section to give you a better idea of what you can expect. As you can see, on the right side there is the fish shop while on the left you have the fish restaurant.

4.4 THE AGNELLI ART GALLERLY

Inside the 8 Gallery there is also a small but very prestigious art gallery called Pinacoteca Agnelli.

The collection includes 25 pieces of art from the fines artists of Europe: Manet, Renoir, Picasso, Modigliani, Canaletto, Matisse and many more.

This was the private art collection of one of Italy’s most successful entrepreneur: Giovanni Agnelli. He was the owner of the major car company FIAT, the prestigious Ferrari as well as the Juventus Football Club.

The entry ticket is 10.60 euros per person. You can read more at their Pinacoteca Agnelli official website.

4.5 AREA 12

The Area 12 is another big shopping mall in Turin.

This is next to the Juventus Football club stadium, also knowns as Allianz Stadium Juventus. Which is rather far from the city center: it’s a 30 mins drive and not easily accessible by public transportation.

I would say it only makes sense to visit Area 12 if you’re planning to go see a football match or visit the Juventus Museum.

It has a big Juventus Store on the inside. Other than that, there isn’t anything else really special about this place.

5.    Torino Outlet Village

5.1 is Torino Outlet Village worth it?

My personal opinion is: Yes, Torino Outlet village is totally worth it !

Unlike other shopping malls or department stores in Turin, here you can really find some good bargains.

The website claims up to -70% off, obviously this is not the norm or at least not on the super cool & trendy items. Finding such good deals really depends on timing & luck.

But you can definitely find great products at around -30% off.

I’ve never shopped at Gucci or super premium brands like that, I so I can’t really tell you if you can find good deals on such brands but let me give you some examples of the deals I found here over the years.

ADIDAS STORE

At Adidas I recently bought their classic Stan Smiths at 70 eur, while you typically find them at 120-130 euros in a regular store.

Of course I didn’t find the most popular colors with Blue or Green colour on the back heal. I found the salmon color which turned out to be a good choice in my view!

NIKE STORE

At Nike is less easy to find good deals. Yet, once I was able to buy their amazing Pegasus Running shoes at -50% off applied to all colours. What a treat! I was very lucky this time around.

BROOKS BROTHERS STORE

At Brooks Brothers you will never find a discount on their iconic “No Iron” shirts.

Yet, back in November I bought two sweaters at -30% off. One of which was 100% of Wool and the other one 100% of Cashmere. These were really good deals. I also bought a nice jacket.

I definitely recommend to pass by this outlet during Black Friday week and the week just before that.

5.2 Torino Outlet village: All you need to know

Discover more details on my post Torino Outlet Village all you need to know.

You will learn answers to all your questions: where is it, how to get there, which shops are there. You’ll also get some helpful tips on how to save -10% on your shopping & get a free shuttle bus to the Outlet.

6.    The Finest luxury stores in Turin

For jewellery, you may want to check out the following stores:

  • Astrua: which also has great collection of luxury watches such as Rolex, Pathek Philippe. This shop is located in Via Cesare Battisti 15
  • Algozzini Gioielli: which mainly sells jewellery & precious home decoration, located in in Piazza San Carlo

Most of the really good luxury shops are located under the porticoes of Piazza San Carlo:

  • San Carlo 1973: this is an iconic store which open more than 50 years  ago. This is probably the most famous store among local celebrities & overall wealthy people.  It offers specific collections for woman from the world’s most prestigious brands such as Chanel, Prada, Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander McQueen, as well as creations by emerging artists.
  • Posh: which on top of famous brands like Versace, Moschino and Kenzo offers wide Chiara Ferragni collection
  • Giorgio Armani: in this boutique you can find not only clothing and jewellery but also accessories, fragrances & sunglasses

Some of the best places for luxury shopping are already mentioned in this post. Here is a brief recap:

  • La Rinascente Department store
  • Via Roma and Via Lagrange shopping streets in Turin city center
  • Torino Outlet village

7.    Top 3 Vintage stores in Turin

Let me admit that this is not my area of expertise. By doing some quick research here are the main shops that I found, they are all very well rated in terms of ratings & reviews:

Humana Vintage is the store that impressed me the most.

There is a total of three Humana Vintage stores in  Turin: Via Pietro Micca 14, Via Po 39 and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 41. This store focuses purely on clothing and offers Men, women and genderless articles.

What impressed me the most is that here you can find a huge selection of football nostalgic gear such as Juventus, Sampdoria, AC Milan Football shirts from the 90s

Other two good vintage stores are Parrot & Palm in Via Maria Vittoria 16 which offers clothing & accessories and CHA.RLY Vintage&flowers in Via Pomba 29, which has clothing & home decoration from the 1920s.

8.    Top 2 fashion/clothes Market?

In terms of clothes markets, the best ones in Turin are the Market in Crocetta and the Market in Piazza Benefica.

They both take place on Saturday morning, here you can find good bargain deals also branded products.

Sometimes really great items turn out to have some small flaws and as such cannot be sold in regular stores. Hence, you can find it sold in these markets at extremely affordable prices.

9.    The #1 Flea market in Turin

If you like wandering around the stalls of antique furniture there is nothing in Turin like the Balon and the Great Balon flea market.

The name “Balon” comes from the fact that back in 1783 there was a hot air balloon that took off from the Borgo Dora area in Turin.

This was the first documented hot air ballon flight taking place in Turin and the second one to take place in Italy.

From this moment onwards the recurring flea market taking place in this area was referred to as the Balon market.

In 2012 a hot air balloon was reinstalled in this area, this was known to tourist as the Turin Eye. It allowed visitors to enjoy stunning views of the city from up top. This was however removed back in 2019.

9.1 BALÔN

The so called “Balon” market is the historic flea market of the city. It first opened over 100 years ago, specifically in 1857. It occurs every Saturday from 7 am to 7 PM.

The Balon takes place in Piazza della Repubblica, the so called Porta Palazzo. As you can expect this market is a lovingly confusing mix of colours, aromas and left over items.

Sometimes you can ran into super cool vintage items with which you can uniquely decorate your house & impress your friends such as: vintage radios, vinyls, antique world maps and so forth.

There are also some antique luggages or trunks which you can use to store items at home or as super trendy chairs, seats and armchairs.

9.1 GREAT BALÔN

Every second Sunday of each month, there is the so called Great Balon Flea Market.

This takes place from 8 am to 6 pm  in the area that surrounds Via Vittorio Andreis 7.

More precisely the market takes place in the area enclosed by the following streets: Via Lanino, Via Mameli, Via Canale Carpanini, Cortile del Maglio and  Via Borgo Dora:

This bigger version of the Balon Flea Market, the so called Great Balon, started in 1985. Today there are over 250 stands and 50 shops & restaurants taking place in this exhibition.

Here you can find an even greater selection of products that include also antique furniture, artefacts, old papers, clothes and weird things such as stuffed crocodiles.

To learn more, here is a link to Tripadvisor, at the time in which I am writing this post the Great Balon has 4.0 stars: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g187855-d2148023-Reviews-Gran_Balon-Turin_Province_of_Turin_Piedmont.html

10.    The Leading Food Market

10.1 PORTA PALAZZO

The so called “Porta Palazzo” market is the biggest open air food market in Europe.

It takes place in Piazza Della Repubblica, just a few minutes away from Piazza Castello & the Duomo of Turin.

It occurs almost every day, from Monday to Saturday from early morning up to 4 pm.

In this food market you can find basically anything edible you can think of. From fruit and vegetables to cheese, from freshly caught fish to any kind of meat including Kosher and Halal.

You can also find high-end local food delicacies like the famous Salsiccia di Bra. If you want to learn more on the best local food from Turin, you can read my post on the Top 15 Local Food from Turin.

Prices at Porta Palazzo Market are very affordable both for groceries & for lunch.

I recommend to get a sandwich here for sure.

Nearby, you also have the Mercato Centrale which is an affordable Food Court where you can find many food Stalls next to each other, just like Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid.

10.2 OTHER GOOD FOOD MARKETS

If you’re staying far away from Porta Palazzo don’t worry there are other great food markets in Turin.

My favorite ones are the one in Piazza Madama Cristina (close to the Valentino Park) and the one in Corso Palestro (few minutes walking distance from Porta Susa train station).

Definitely worth a stop!

11.    The 3 Best Grocery stores

In the prior section we talked about food markets, let’s now focus on food stores. Here are the top 3 food stores where locals go for food shopping.

11.1 BORELLO

Borello is a small chain very well represented in Turin city center.

This chain is present only in the Piedmont Region with a total of 47 stores. Here you can find everyday groceries as well as a good selection of freshly caught fish & local cheese.

In Turin city center there is a shop in Via Sant’Ottavio, one in Corso Matteotti, Via Giolitti and Via Goito.

11.2 EATALY

This is the finest grocery shopping in Turin. It also has excellent restaurants in the same premises.

There is a small shop in Via Lagrange 3 but the main store is the Eataly Torino Lingotto, which is a few Metro stops away from the city center.

Here you can buy literally the best food products Italy has to offer.

We briefly talked about Eataly in the sections above in this post.

11.3 ESSELUNGA

This is the biggest chain of the three mentioned in this section and it is also the cheapest.

This is a very popular big chain present across North of Italy with 170 stores.

This chain is not present outside of Italy. It is a supermarket but it has a higher level product selection than bigger chains such as Carrefour for example.

In Turin city center, there is one Esselunga shop near Porta Nuova Train station. The others are a bit further out.

Hope you found this post useful!
