1. The Historical Villa

Royal families and prominent people consistenly chose this Villa as a venue to spend their leisure time and celebrate anniversaries for over 400 years.

The Villa was restored and decorated with contemporary design, iconic pieces of Italian design and artistic installations. Its contrast of historical architecture and modern decoration offers just the perfect blend and a unique touch which is difficult to replicate.

Today, private events such as corporate retreats or marriages take place in this villa. Yet, it sometimes offers the possibility to go there for an aperitif, dinner or for a nice Sunday brunch.

It will remind you a little bit of the the Great Gatsby’s villa.

2. The Stunning Park

To top it all, the Villa is immersed in a fabulous park, which makes it an incredible place to spend your Sunday afternoon in a sunny day.

The park is immense, it is a green land that extends for over 22 hectares.

It is carefully curated, it offers a variety of plants and trees and it is just the perfect place to be in touch with nature and relax. It recently has been listed among the 100 most beautiful parks in Italy.

You will find large green flowerbeds, fountains, long rows of magnificent centuries-old trees, including the intriguing and monumental Lebanese cedar (about 400 years old, listed as one of the oldest in Italy).

3. Luxury Sunday Brunch

We recently went there for a nice Sunday brunch. It was the highlight of our day.

We chose the set brunch menu which offers incredible value for only 48€ per person. The menu comprises four servings: an appetizer set, eggs, main dish and dessert.

Water, coffee and tea is included.

3.1 Appetizers

The appetizer set is a mix of croissant, different kinds of breads, cheese, cold cuts, pastry and fresh fruit.

This is not a buffet, but it is served straight to your table. In terms of beverages they offer all sort of coffees (espresso, americano, cappuccino) and a variety of teas.

3.2 Egg selection

No brunch will be complete without eggs.

The restaurant of the Villa let’s you choose among four different eggs preparations: omelette, Poached eggs, Eggs benedict  and fried eggs.

Let me give you a quick overview in case you are not too familiar with the different eggs preparations. They vary in terms of techniques, textures and serving style.

  • Omelette: it is a French dish, it consist of beaten eggs cooked in a pan into a soft folded layer which can be filled based on your likes (typically cheese, vegetables and ham).
  • Poached egg: consists of eggs gently boiled in simmering water (gentle bubbles as it just below water bioling point). Here the eggs are cooked straight in the water without the shell.  In Italy we called this type of eggs “in camicia” as the egg white sort of wraps the yolk like a “shirt”
  • Eggs Benedict: are basically poached egg served with ham or bacon topped with hollandaise sauce
  • Fried eggs: In Italian it is called “al padellino”. With this technique eggs are typically served sunny side up. In terms of  cooking method, they are fried on a pan with little oil or butter

As you can see form the pictures, we chose one Poached Egg and one Eggs Benedict.

3.3 Main dish

As a main dish, the menu let’s choose between four different types: vitello tonnato, avocado toast, steak tartare, Caesar salad and club sandwich.

I’m pretty sure you are familiar with all of the above so I am not gonna spend further time on this part.

Vitello tonnato is a local delicacy from the Piedmont region. If you want to learn more about Vitello tonnato or other local dishes from Turin you can read more at the following link: https://weekendinturin.com/turinfood/

As you can see form the pictures, we chose the steak tartare and the Vitello Tonnato.

3.4 Desserts

In terms of desserts, you can choose between: Torta Caprese, Gaufre, French toast  and Pancakes.

Let me give you a quick overview of the different desserts in case you are not familiar with some of them:

  • Torta Caprese: is a traditional Italian recipe. It is a rich dense chocolate cake made with chocolate and almonds. It is usually done without any flour. The name Caprese comes from the fact that it originated from the famous island of Capri.
  •  Gaufre: is a traditional French dessert. In English speaking countries it is referred to as waffle.
    • It is basically a batter (liquid mixture of flour, eggs and milk) cooked in a waffle iron, which provides the iconic grid pattern.
    • Crispyness on the outside and softness on the inside
    • It Is tipically topped with powdered sugar or Nutella and fresh fruits
  • French toast:  despite its name, this dish does not come France and it is not very common in Europe. This dish is more typical of North America and it consists of bread slices soaked in egg and milk which are later on pan-fried. They are slightly crisp on the outside and softer on the inside. Often topped with syrup (typically with Canadian maple syrup).
  • Pancake: this is an American dish which consists of a soft, fluffy cake made from batter typically cooked in a frying pan. Usually served stacked with maple syrup or chocolate cream and fresh fruits
